What Is a Dirty Soda?

A dirty soda contains a base of a bubbly beverage (typically a soda or pop) that is then enhanced with coffee creamers, syrups or juice. Dirty sodas were created in Utah as a fun alternative to alcohol and caffeine. Utah is home to a large Mormon population, who do not drink alcohol or coffee, so dirty sodas provide a fun twist to the basic sodas available.

In Utah and the surrounding mountain states, soda shops such as Swig are all the rage, allowing customers to enjoy the dirty soda of their choice. One of the most popular add-ins is coconut creamer, which adds a creamy tropical flair to any soda. This inspired the coffee creamer brand Coffee Mate to create special dirty soda creamers, including a coconut lime creamer and an orange cream pop creamer.

Does Crumbl Have Dirty Sodas?

Exclusive to Canada, Crumbl has launched a lineup of dirty sodas. As for why Crumbl chose to launch the dirty sodas exclusively to Canadian customers, Christopher Olsen, director of public relations for Crumbl, tells us that it is because Canada is an untapped market! As mentioned earlier, soda shops are huge in the United States, but have not hit the same stride in Canada yet. Sip Soda Co. recently went viral for being one of the first dirty soda shops in Canada, but otherwise, there is not much competition. So Crumbl saw an opportunity and they went for it!

At Crumbl locations across Canada, customers are able to create their own custom dirty soda or choose from over 40 options of dirty soda concoctions. Some options include the Dirty Coconut Lime, which is Dr. Pepper with coconut cream and a fresh lime wedge. If you like more of a citrus, try the Hello, Gorgeous which consists of Sprite, Watermelon syrup and Strawberry Puree. Dirty sodas are served in a cup with Crumbl’s signature pink hue. They are available in either a 24 or 32 ounce size.

For people who still want that bubbly drink but not soda, Crumbl has three Coolers available, which are the same idea as a Dirty soda but with a soda water base. And if you’re looking for that extra caffeine kick, try a charger which replaces the soda with an energy drink! We got to try some of the new Crumbl bevvys, so here is our review of four of Crumbl’s Dirty sodas.

Crumbl Dirty Sodas Review

After seeing all the buzz about Crumbl dirty sodas online, we had to try them and see if they were worth the hype. And while we would love to try the over 40 dirty sodas available… that is too much even for us! So we were able to try four, each with a different soda base. Of course, we also had to stay true to the dirty soda experience and give coconut creamer a try.

Cherry Coast

First, we tried the Cherry Coast: Coke with cherry syrup, coconut creamer and a fresh lime wedge. This tastes exactly like a classic cherry cola! We were a little apprehensive about the coconut creamer, but it adds a lovely creaminess to this dirty soda. It makes it feel more like a soda float, that gives the Cherry Coast a nostalgic edge.

The Ginger

Speaking of nostalgia, we tried The Ginger next. It is a ginger ale with pomegranate, orange syrup and a fresh lime wedge. This tasted exactly like a Shirley Temple, and brought us right back to childhood. The only thing it was missing was that classic marashino cherry. Other than that, it was a refreshing and delicious drink.

Electric Storm

If you’re missing those vibes that you get on a tropical vacation, then you’ll love the Electric Storm. It combines Sprite, blue raspberry syrup and coconut cream. Something about the flavour of this dirty soda is totally tropical and we loved it. It is very sweet though; so if you don’t have a big sweet tooth, this may not be for you.

Delulu

Finally, we tried Delulu: a Pepsi with raspberry syrup and raspberry puree. We have to be honest and admit that we tried this dirty soda for its name. But we were pleasantly surprised by its flavour. The raspberry mixed with the Pepsi tastes like a toned-down cherry cola, which we love. And this is not the only dirty soda with a fun name. Some other options we were curious about include the Smart Cookie, Slay of the Week and Crazy Cousins.

Where Are Crumbl Dirty Sodas Available?
