This Salted Toffee and Chocolate Matzah Crunch is an essential and classic Passover dessert. It is sweet, salty, crunchy, and chocolatey and, of course, features Passover’s main ingredient: matzah. If you’re looking for a dessert for your Seder table – this is it. And, if you don’t celebrate Passover, I still highly encourage you to make this easy, rich and tasty dessert this spring.
Matzah is like a big, dry square cracker, and it’s the perfect medium to slather gooey with hot toffee on top. Once hardened and covered in chocolate, all three layers (matzah, toffee and chocolate) offer the perfect triple crunch. Topping the Salted Toffee and Chocolate Matzah Crunch with flakey salt is a must and keeps it simple, but you can also choose any ingredient you love, like pistachios, coconut, hazelnuts or freeze-fried fruit.

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Place parchment paper on a baking sheet and cover the sheet with matzah. You’ll need to break a few pieces to fit. Set aside.

In a saucepan over medium-high heat, add the butter and sugar and mix. Whisk until amber and bubbling.

Remove from the heat and immediately pour over the matzah. Use a spoon or offset spatula to spread over every piece.

Place in the oven for 8-10 minutes until slightly browned and bubbling.
Immediately pour chocolate chips on top and spread evenly over each matzah piece. The chocolate may take a few minutes to really melt and spread well.

Top with flakey salt. You can also add other toppings of choice like pistachios, coconut chips or whatever you like.
Place in the freezer for 10-12 minutes until hardened. Break into pieces. Store in the fridge in an airtight container.
